Theodore Fairhurst

Entrepreneur, artist, high-altitude mountaineer, public speaker, and author, Theodore is especially known for being the oldest person in the world, 1st North American, and 9th person in history to have scaled both the Seven Summits and the Volcanic Seven Summits, including Mount Everest. His Everest Ice Fall GoPro video has reached close to 4 million people.

A resident of Montreal, Canada, he has also lived on the West Coast, Banff, and several years in Europe. He began drawing and painting as an early adolescent, loved long hikes and skiing in the outdoors in his teens, and embraced a lifelong love for peoples and cultures while traveling around the world beginning at age 22. He has doggedly pursued his passions in life, whether they be art, travel, business, or climbing big mountains. His motif is: "It is not the size of the mountain; it is the size of the dream."

In December 1969 he embarked alone for 32 days in the Himalaya Mountains up the Khumbu Glacier (5,200m) to the foot of Mount Everest. In 1972 while living in Amsterdam, he purchased an old 1961 41-seater Bedford Duple Coach called the Blue Goose and carried hippies and young travelers between Holland, France, Spain, Greece, and Morocco. Also, in the '70s and early '80s, his artwork entitled ‘Man's Relationship to Science and Technology' was exhibited in Amsterdam, Montreal, and Miami. Back living in Montreal in 1983, he started a real estate company during a recession with practically zero funds buying and restoring older multi-purpose buildings and developed a portfolio over the years of 60 units. Two of his buildings received awards or mention from the City of Montreal.

January 2006, he began an 8-year challenge to climb the highest mountain on all 7 Continents. He summited Mount Everest just turning 63 on May 23rd, 2010. At 70 he decided to attempt to climb the highest volcano on all 7 Continents.  December 9th, 2018, he reached the summit of Mount Ojos del Salado in the Atacama Desert of Chile and became the oldest person (71 years 235 days) in the world and only the 9th in history to accomplish both mountaineering feats, the 7 Summits, and Volcanic 7 Summits.
